The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has lauded the local government units in three regions--CARAGA, Bicol, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) -- for distributing in a timely manner the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) emergency subsidies to their constituents.
Of the three regions, CARAGA and Region V (Bicol) have completed the distribution of SAP, while the payout in CAR stood at 93.92 percent, the DSWD said, citing the SAP report as of May 8.
"Muling kinikilala ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ang mabilis na pagpapatupad ng Social Amelioration Program (SAP) ng mga local government units (LGU) sa tatlong rehiyon," the department said in a statement.
(The DSWD is recognizing anew the swift implementation of SAP by the LGUs in three regions.)
The DSWD attributed the efficient SAP distribution in the three regions to the close coordination of the LGUs and the DSWD field offices, the barangay officials' proper scheduling of aid distribution, and the LGUs' deployment of payment officers in areas of payout.
It also cited the crucial role of barangay tanods and local security officers in ensuring peace and order during payouts.
The DSWD reported that 1,035 or 63.3 percent of the 1,634 LGUs nationwide have completed their SAP payouts, while 141 LGUs have submitted their liquidation reports.
The department also cited the Pasig City government for rolling out its own supplemental SAP to benefit 160,000 families who were not included in the initial list of SAP beneficiaries for the first tranche of cash subsidies.
"Bukod sa mga nabanggit na lugar, kinikilala rin ang LGU ng Pasig City sa paglulunsad nito ng supplemental SAP na kasalukuyang ipinagkakaloob sa humigit-kumulang 160,000 pamilya na hindi napasama sa listahan ng mga nakatanggap ng ayuda ng SAP," it said.
(Apart from the mentioned areas, the LGU of Pasig City is commended for launching its supplemental SAP which is currently being given to more or less 160,000 families that were not included in list of SAP beneficiaries.)
The DSWD advised the public to visit its official website should they have inquiries on data or information regarding SAP implementation.
