The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) received a donation of 10,000 surgical masks from a Chinese contractor.
DPWH Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) Operations Emil Sadain received five boxes each, containing 2,000 surgical masks, from Fei Zheng of China Wu Yi Co., Ltd.
To date, the department has received around 139,000 pieces of surgical face masks; 1,150 pieces of N-95 masks; 80 pieces face shields; 90 pieces of other personal protective equipment; and 200 liters of alcohol disinfectants from multi-investment companies and international construction firms undertaking government infrastructure projects.
Other companies that have donated medical supplies include China Geo Engineering Corp., Quinjian Group Company, Ltd., Hunan Road and Bridge Construction Group Co. Ltd., Sino Road and Bridge Group Company, Ltd., China Road and Bridge Corporation, Philippine Fullwin Group of Companies, and San Miguel Corporation.
The donations were distributed to major hospitals in the country to aid health workers in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
