GUAGUA, Pampanga — In a move to properly manage suspected coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Pampanga, the provincial government has designated the Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital (DPMMH) here as a facility dedicated for persons under investigation (PUIs) with COVID-19.

(Facebook / MANILA BULLETIN) Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda said the development came as reports of the number of PUIs and persons under monitoring (PUMs) continued to surge following the implementation of enhanced community quarantine in Luzon. Records of the Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (PESU) as of March 23, 3 p.m., showed that there are currently 38 PUIs, and 7, 973 PUMs in Pampanga. The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases remained at three, with one fatality. “I have assigned the facility for COVID-19 related cases so that other district hospitals could focus on non-COVID19 cases in the province,” the governor said. “Nagkaroon kami ng kasunduan ng DPMMH na sa provincial hospital na muna pupunta o dadalhin ang mga may sintomas ng COVID-19. Nagbukas na po tayo kaya simula ngayon dito na po tayo pupunta kung may mga mild symptoms tayo,” he added. Suspected COVID-19 patients who would be diagnosed at DPMMH with severe symptoms will be immediately transferred to Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital (JBLMRH), according to Pineda. He urged Kapampangans to directly go to the hospital if in doubt, experiencing common symptoms of colds, fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Pineda further assured that those who are unable to travel to DPMMH will be fetched by the hospital's medical personnel. Dr. Antonio ‘Jay’ Rivera, medical consultant to the governor, said the DPMMH is ready and equipped with capable medical specialists and necessary medical resources to accommodate suspected COVID 19 patients.
