DOTr: 'No vax, no ride' to be lifted once Alert Level 2 status takes effect in NCR on Feb. 1
The implementation of the "no vaccination, no ride" policy in Metro Manila will be lifted as soon as the COVID Alert Status takes effect on Feb. 1, an official of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said on Sunday, Jan. 30.
DOTr Usec. Goddess Hope Libiran said this was the agreement even before when the policy was implemented at the height of the surge of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) especially in the National Capital Region and nearby provinces.
"Once we de-escalate to Alert Level 2, the "no vaxx, no ride" policy shall automatically be lifted," said Libiran.
The policy was implemented on Jan. 17, through the issuance of a Memorandum Order of DOTr Sec. Art Tugade to the transport sector that includes land, air and sea travel heading to and from Metro Manila.
On Sunday, Jan. 30, the national government said Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite and Rizal will be under Alert Level 2 starting Feb 1.
"The no vaxx, no ride policy is not perpetual. This will only be implemented in Metro Manila under Alert Level 3 status and higher," the DOTR statement read.
