The Department of Tourism (DOT) released Thursday the list of domestic sweeper flights that stranded local tourists may take amid the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Luzon due to the COVID-19 threat.
The operation developed after the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases authorized the Tourism department to make measures to charter and fund sweeper flights for domestic travelers affected by the ECQ.
“This is a positive development that will complement our on-ongoing efforts in the Department to assist qualified stranded local tourists, which include the provision of one-time financial assistance,” Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said in a statement.
The full list is as follows:
The Tourism department also said those hoping to secure a seat should communicate with the nearest DOT regional office.
The ECQ was implemented over Luzon last March 17 to prevent the further increase of COVID-19 cases. After two extensions, it is supposed to end on May 15.
The country now has 8,488 positive cases, 568 deaths, and 1,043 recoveries.
