Those who are interested to market the reusable face masks of the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) can now contact the agency, officials said on Tuesday.

According to DOST Undersecretary Rowena Guevara, the masks are currently being given to frontliners, local government units, and national government agencies.
"Kung meron pong gustong mag commercialize, meron po tayong technology transfer protocol. Magtanong lang po sa amin at bibigyan namin kayo ng proseso kung papano ginagawa yung pag transfer nitong ReWear face mask papunta po sa private sector," she said during a virtual briefing on Monday. (For those who wish to commercialize, we have a technology transfer protocol. Just coordinate with us and we will give you the process on how to transfer ReWear to the private sector.)
The masks make use of PTRI textile-coating technology for treatment and finishing and can be used up to 50 times.
DOST Secretary Fortunato dela Pena said that the government, led by the Department of Health, is planning to stock up on face masks by 2021.
"Kaya yung ibang mga produkto namin ay ico-contribute namin para sa pagiimbak ng inventory for 2021," the secretary said. (That's why we'll contribute some of our products for the inventory for 2021).
