DOLE releases P5.5 million to workers

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has already released some P5.5 million in financial assistance to workers in the formal sector in the National Capital Region (NCR) who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The CAMP (COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program) beneficiaries have received their individual assistance worth P5,000 through a money remittance scheme,” DOLE-NCR Regional Director Sarah Buena S. Mirasol said in a statement.

An estimated 1,074 workers in the formal sector have already benefited from the P5,000 cash grant of the government.

According to DOLE-NCR, it has already received 46,213 CAMP applications submitted by 973 private establishments in Metro Manila that have implemented flexible working arrangements or temporary closure. Due to the influx of applications received online, Mirasol asked for patience and cooperation on the part of the employers. “We have a skeletal workforce in strict adherence to the enhanced community quarantine protocol in Luzon, and we are temporarily not welcoming any visitors. Please understand that we prioritize the safety and health of our customers and so we request our clients and partners to transact or communicate with us online via e-mail or through our hotline numbers to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” she said. The COVID-19 adjustment measures program (CAMP) provides financial support as safety nets to affected workers in private establishments that have adopted FWAs or temporary closure.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III earlier urged all concerned employers in the private sector to apply to DOLE’s CAMP to ease the difficulties of affected workers and their families.

To avail of the assistance, employers must submit their company payroll for February 2020 or earlier periods before the implementation of FWAs or temporary closure. Secretary Bello advised the establishments to download the “Establishment Report of COVID Form” in the DOLE website, to start the availment process. .The form is also available in all DOLE regional offices’ websites and official Facebook pages. The accomplished form must be submitted through email to the DOLE regional or field office in their area.
