The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) plans to distribute P1.5 B cash assistance to qualified beneficiaries as part of the government’s efforts to ensure the welfare of its citizens amid the threat posed by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

He also announced that they had already distributed P 444 M cash assistance to beneficiaries who weren’t able to report for work as a result of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). Aside from financial assistance, Bello said that the Labor Department has other programs lined up. Bello said that one of these programs is the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged at Displaced Workers (TUPAD). This program offers work from 10 days to not more than 30 days to those displaced or disadvantaged inadvertently by the ECQ. Returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) will also receive cash assistance as well, Bello said.
