Three workers at the Department of Justice (DOJ) have been found to have tested positive with the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Tuesday, June 9, said this was revealed during the random testing held at the DOJ last Friday when a number of employees under rapid antibody tests for the virus.
Among those who got tested, Guevarra disclosed two security guards and one utility personnel have been found positive with the virus.
“They were immediately asked to stop reporting for work and to undergo a swab test,” said Guevarra who noted that the four will undergo polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test for confirmation.
“If confirmed positive, they'd be brought to a hospital for proper treatment,” the Secretary assured. Guevarra noted that the four “could have gotten it anywhere outside the DOJ.”
Regardless, Guevarra said the DOJ underwent disinfection in the hopes of keeping out the virus.
“We've disinfected the premises over the weekend, and we'll do it all over again,” he said.
“We'll also decide if we need to suspend all work on site in the meantime,” he added.
Meanwhile, Guevarra said testing at the DOJ will continue as he noted that tests will be done on Tuesday, June 9, and Wednesday, June 10. He added that the testing will be done with the help of personnel from the Chinese General Hospital.
