The Philippines has crossed the 25,000-mark in its coronavirus disease (COVID-19) tally by reporting 607 new confirmed cases on Saturday (June 13).
The Department of Health (DOH) said that there are now 25,392 confirmed cases in the country.
Of the newly confirmed cases, 504 were patients whose test results were released within the last three days. The majority of these fresh cases were recorded in the National Capital Region with 246, followed by Central Visayas with 85. The remaining 173 were found in other regions.
On the other hand, 103 “late” cases were reported, or those who got their test results four days ago or more. The DOH said that 42 of them were from Metro Manila.
The Health department, meanwhile, noted that “two duplicate cases were removed from the total cases reported” as of June 12.
“Total cases reported may be subject to change as these numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation,” it said.
The DOH also reported that 252 more patients have survived from COVID-19. This brought the country’s total number of recoveries to 5,706.
Twenty-two more patients, however, died, raising the death toll to 1,074.
In its recent COVID-19 situationer, the DOH said there are now 33 healthcare workers who died because of the dreaded illness. A total of 2,833 medical frontliners have contracted COVID-19 as of June 11.
At present, the Philippines has 58 licensed laboratories for COVID-19 testing. The total number of tests conducted is now at 483,544, with 445,798 unique individuals tested as of June 11.
Globally, the World Health Organization reported that there have been 7,410,510 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 418,294 deaths, as of June 12.
