DOH reports over 20K more COVID-19 cases, no death reported anew due to system glitch

The Department of Health (DOH) said another 20,755 people were infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) nationwide, while no new deaths were recorded for three straight days already as technical issues still hounded the DOH’s system.

Based on its Sunday's case update, the country's number of active cases stood at 161,447. The country’s running case tally is now at 2,490,858.

Of the active cases, 81.1 percent have mild symptoms, 13.4 percent are asymptomatic, 0.7 percent are critical, 1.6 percent are severe, and 3.18 percent are moderate cases.

The country’s COVID-19 death toll was still at 37,405. The DOH explained that its COVID-19 data collecting system is still experiencing a technical problem.

"No deaths were reported today due to technical issues in COVIDKaya. The Department of Information and Communications Technology is currently addressing issues encountered by the system," it said.

"When the issue is resolved, the succeeding increase in deaths in the following reports will be due to the previous days' backlogs," it added.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries jumped to 2,292,006 after 24,391 new survivors were logged.
