DOH reports 21K new COVID-19 cases; recovery tally exceeds 2 million

The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 21,411 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases on Sunday, Sept. 12.
The DOH noted that the new cases do not include the data from five laboratories as they were not able to submit their COVID-19 data on time.
The country's tally of COVID-19 cases since last year increased to 2,227,367, of which, 8.2 percent or 181,951 are active cases or people who are still sick.
Eighty-six percent of the active cases have mild symptoms, 9.5 percent are without symptoms, 0.6 percent are critical, 1.3 percent are severe, and 2.59 percent are in moderate condition.
Also, the DOH recorded 25,049 new recoveries and 168 more fatalities.
Recovery tally stood at 2,010,271 or 90.3 percent of the total case count, while the death toll jumped to 35,145 or 1.58 percent of the country's overall tally.
The DOH also reported that 77 percent of the intensive care unit beds (ICU) dedicated for COVID-19 patients in the country are currently occupied.
It also added that 68 percent of the hospital isolation beds are being used at present.
The DOH also reported that 73 percent of the ward beds for COVID-19 patients are being utilized and 57 percent of mechanical ventilators are also being used.
