DOH: Filipino patient under investigation dies but not of COVID-19

By MB Online The Department of Health (DOH) announced on Friday that another Filipino patient under investigation (PUI) died, but tested negative for the novel coronavirus. (MANILA BULLETIN) (MANILA BULLETIN) “The patient is a Filipino, 71 years old, he hails from Region 1, confined there in La Union,” said Dr. Maria Rosario Vergeire, Health assistant secretary for public health services, was quoted from a report by ABS-CBN News. The man traveled to Taiwan on Jan. 24 and returned on Jan. 31, but had a cough starting Jan. 20, Vegeire said in the report. According to Vergeire, the man was “given supportive measures, diagnostic procedures,” and tested negative for coronavirus disease (COVID-2019). As of Feb. 14, Duque reported that 191 PUIs are currently admitted to various health facilities while 260 others have been discharged. Based on the latest Department of Health bulletin, at least 386 patients tested negative for the coronavirus while 66 cases have pending test results from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.
