DOH-8 reports 68 new COVID-19 cases; Eastern Visayas total soars to 200

PALO, Leyte - The Department of Health Regional Office 8 (DOH-8) reported 68 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Eastern Visayas.
DOH-8 Regional Director Dr. Minerva Molon said, on Sunday, the 68 new cases reported Saturday night brought the number of confirmed cases in Eastern Visayas to 200.
The number of confirmed cases in the region has been increasing in the last four days, and the most recent record of 68 cases was the highest reported in Eastern Visayas since March 23 when the first case was recorded in the region by the DOH-8.
Molon said 67 confirmed cases released by Eastern Visayas Regional COVID-19 Testing Center, based in Tacloban City (EVRCTC) came from a batch of 245 samples, which had 178 testing negative for the virus.
She also added that of the 67 confirmed cases, 66 were new cases while one was a re-swab of EV-49 from Ormoc City.
Ormoc got the highest number of cases with 30 individuals who tested positive for the disease.
The following were the confirmed cases from EVRCTC: 1- Tabon-Tabon, Leyte; 9- Catbalogan, Samar; 3- Libagon, Southern Leyte; 2- Pastrana, Leyte; 1- Mercedes, Eastern Samar; 9- La Paz, Leyte; 1-Tacloban City; 1- San Sebastian, Samar; 7- Bato, Leyte; 1- Abuyog, Leyte; 1- Baybay Leyte; and 30- Ormoc City.
The Divine Word Hospital COVID-19 Testing Center also released Saturday night a total of 76 laboratory results. Of these, 74 were negatives, and two positives. Of the two positives, one was from the town of Palo while the other one was from Tanauan, both from Leyte.
