The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Tuesday that over 1,300 healthcare workers in the country have been infected with the novel coronavirus.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said 1,336 health workers have contracted COVID-19, while 29 of them have died of the disease, 21 of them physicians.
The total number of cases include: 507 nurses, 493 physicians, 74 nursing assistants, 47 medical technologists, 28 radiologic technologists, 11 respiratory therapists, and 11 midwives.
“Meron din po tayong 165 na ibang healthcare workers kagaya ng mga dentista, barangay health workers, administrative aides, at iba pa,” Vergeire said.
(We also have 165 other healthcare workers such as dentists, barangay health workers, administrative aids, among others.)
The DOH said there are now 7,958 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country, including 975 recoveries and 530 deaths.
