The De La Salle University (DLSU) announced on Sunday that it is opening its doors to serve as temporary shelter for the homeless during the enhance community quarantine.
In a Facebook post, DLSU said that there are currently 61 individuals, among them women and elderly, who are currently staying at the second floor of the Enrique Razon Sports Center until the Luzon-wide lockdown is lifted.
The initiative was done in partnership with the Kain, Ligo NG ayos (KALINGA) Program of the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD).
It added that SVD volunteers are looking after the basic needs of those who are taking shelter at the Sports Center.
The university in Taft Avenue has also called on the generosity of the public to help sustain the initiative by donating cash to buy food, medicines, and health kits.
DLSU requests for donors to email their deposit slips to [email protected] for proper documentation.
