Initially, 40,000 families directly affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) being implemented in the city to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), will receive the food packs that contain rice, canned goods, and noodles.
The first tranche of the distribution was done in 31 barangays on Monday and will continue this week in batches.
Butuan City has a total number of 86 rural and urban barangays.
Butuan City Mayor Ronnie Vicente R. Lagnada personally supervised the distribution of the food packs and assured that he will do everything to sustain the availability of food supplies for the residents of Butuan.
“We want to sustain the availability of our food supplies because we do not know how long the ECQ will be enforced,” the city chief executive said.
The city government also helped the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the distribution of social amelioration program to qualified individuals in the city on Thursday, April 16.
The P5,000.00 cash assistance was delivered directly to the homes of the beneficiaries.
