DFA suspends visa issuances to foreigners coming from China and its Special Administrative Regions

The Department of Foreign Affairs has temporarily suspended the issuance of visa to foreign nationals coming from China and its Special Administrative Regions (SAR).

In an advisory Sunday, Feb. 2, the DFA said the move was done "in view of the developing situation of the 2019-novel coronavirus acute respiratory disease (2019 n-CoV ARD).
The DFA said the Philippine Foreign Service Posts will temporarily suspend visa issuance to travellers coming directly from China, Hong Kong and Macau.
Travellers who have been to China, Hong Kong, and Macau 14 days prior to their visit to the Philippines will also be barred from entry.
Those with visa-free entry privileges to the Philippines who have likewise been to China or its SAR are also covered by the ban, according to DFA.
As of February 3, the number of 2019 n-CoV ARD cases has ballooned to 17,200.
The first reported 2019-nCoV ARD- related death outside of China was reported in the Philippines on Sunday. (With a report from AFP)
