The Department of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday reported 56 new confirmed COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) cases, 24 new deaths, and 10 new recoveries among Filipinos in different geographic regions abroad.
In its latest tally, the DFA, the 24 new fatalities were from the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East while the 10 new recoveries were from the Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East regions.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases as of June 17, 2020 is placed at 6,074, of which 2,842 have recovered and 7,766 are undergoing treatment. It also listed a total of 466 deaths among overseas Filipinos.
With these developments, DFA noted that regional comparative data shows that Middle East remains to have the highest recorded COVID-19 cases at over 3,900 as well as highest total recoveries and total patients undergoing treatment at over 2,000 and almost 1,700 respectively.
