The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday (May 27) reported 29 new confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases among Filipinos across four major geographical regions in the world.

This puts the total number of COVID-19 infections involving Filipinos abroad at 2,664.
Six new fatalities were recorded from three countries in the Middle East, while 25 new recoveries were tallied in Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East.
Of the total, 1,400 are undergoing treatment, 930 have recovered, and 334 died of the disease.
“With some countries easing their existing travel and mobility restrictions, the DFA personnel in our FSPs (foreign service posts) continue to actively monitor the status of the Filipino community abroad and work to safely repatriate more of our stranded nationals home," the DFA said in a statement.
Europe remains the region with the highest number of coronavirus cases among Filipinos with 801 cases; the Middle East and Africa, 757; the Americas, 633; and Asia and the Pacific, 473.
