The Department of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday recorded 24 new confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases among Filipinos abroad, nine new recoveries, and 4 new deaths variously reported in Asia Pacific, Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East/Africa regions.

Despite the decrease in the daily rate of recoveries reported by different Philippine Foreign Service Posts, the DFA noted that the total number of overseas Filipinos who recovered from COVID-19 at 858 cases is now three times more than the total fatalities at 284 and comprises almost 35% of the total confirmed cases.
As of May 20, 2020, Europe remains the region with the biggest number of coronavirus disease cases among Filipinos with 748 cases, followed by the Middle East and Africa (712), the Americas (544), and the Asia Pacific Region (451).
Earlier today, Philippine Consul General To Chicago Gina Jamoralin confirmed that 17 Filipinos perished in the United States Midwest after being infected with the disease. More than half of the casualties were health care workers, according to the consulate official.
