DFA reports 22 new COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad

By Roy Mabasa Twenty-two new confirmed COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) cases among Filipinos abroad were reported by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Sunday (June 14), with six new recoveries and nine new deaths. To date, the total number of confirmed cases among overseas Filipinos is at 5,541. Of the total, 2,491 have recovered, 2,641 are live cases or still undergoing treatment, and 409 deaths. The biggest number of deaths is in the Americas with 163, while the highest number of live cases is in the Middle East. The DFA said it continues to monitor the status of Filipinos and stands ready to assist returning nationals affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. As of June 13, the DFA has assisted in the return of 41,867 Filipino nationals, of which more than 24,000 are seafarers and over 17,500 are land-based overseas workers.
