The total number of COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos as of May 21, 2020 is at 2,461.
Of the total, 1,315 are active cases or patients still undergoing treatment in various health facilities worldwide, 861 have recovered and 285 died due to the disease.
Among the regions, Europe still holds the biggest number of COVID-19 cases among Filipinos with 748, followed by the Middle East and Africa (712), the Americas (544), and the Asia and the Pacific (451).
“The DFA, through its Foreign Service Posts, remains fully committed to attending to the needs of our people abroad affected by this pandemic, whenever possible,” the DFA said in a statement.
Earlier, the Philippine Embassy in Sweden said no Filipinos were among the more than 31,500 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in that country.
Embassy Charge d’Affaires Raul Dado said the Embassy has appealed to the Swedish government to check on the operations of “unsafe” clinics that employ Filipino health care workers.
