DFA Undersecretary for Civilian Security Brigido Dulay said these two separate findings are considered first cases involving Filipino nationals in both Kuwait and South Korea.
“Kuwait PE (Philippine Embassy) has reported that an OFW (overseas Filipino worker) has tested positive for COVID-19. This is the first case involving a Filipino in this Middle Eastern country. Details to follow once released by Kuwait authorities,” Dulay said in a tweet.
In a later post, Dulay said the South Korean Center for Disease Control and Prevention has reported that a Filipino has tested positive for COVID-19.
“This is the first confirmed case of COVID-19 infection involving a Filipino in South Korea,” the DFA official said.
Also on Friday, two more Filipinos tested positive for coronavirus in Singapore, bringing to 13 the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus-positive Filipino nationals.
