DFA notes increase in COVID-19 recoveries

By Roy Mabasa The Department of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday reported an increase in the number of Filipinos abroad who recovered from COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019). Based on reports it received from the country’s various Foreign Service Posts worldwide, the DFA noted 51 new recoveries and 29 new confirmed cases in the Asia Pacific region and the Middle East, as well as two new deaths in the Middle East. Overall, the total number of COVID19 cases among overseas Filipinos is now at 5,430; the number of recoveries is at 2,346; live cases or those undergoing treatment at 2,702; and the total number of fatalities is at 382. There are now 51 countries and regions with Filipino COVID-19 cases. In a statement, the DFA assured that through its Foreign Service Posts, it will continue to monitor the status of Filipinos as it stands ready to assist in the repatriation of those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
