The total number of Filipinos abroad who recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection remains almost three times more than the total fatalities and comprises 34 percent of the total confirmed cases, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a report on Monday.
Eight new confirmed coronavirus cases, two new recoveries, and two new deaths were recorded in the Americas, Europe, and Middle East regions.
The DFA noted that this is the second day where no new reports were received from Asia and the Pacific.
As of May 18, 2020, the total number of COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad is now at 2,405.
Of the total, 1,298 are live cases or patients still undergoing treatment, 828 have recovered or have been discharged from health facilities and 279 deaths.
The latest figures were collated by various foreign service posts from 46 countries and regions worldwide.
Meanwhile, some 347 distressed Filipinos were repatriated from Saudi Arabia on Monday via a chartered flight paid for through the DFA’s assistance to nationals fund.
