The total number of overseas Filipinos confirmed to have coronavirus disease has breached the 1,000 mark, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday.
DFA's latest tally showed that 94 new cases were reported in the Americas, Europe, and the Asia Pacific, bringing the total of Filipinos abroad that tested positive for the coronavirus to 1,084.
As of April 21, there are 662 Filipinos abroad still undergoing treatment for COVID-19, 269 recoveries, and 153 deaths.
“Based on the updated figures, the rate of new recoveries and new deaths as of today are 2.28 percent and 6.99 percent, respectively,” the DFA observed.
Meanwhile, the DFA said there are still hundreds of Filipino seafarers awaiting repatriation in the Dutch Caribbean and Aruba.
