The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad has increased by six percent across the regions of Americas, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East and Africa, bringing the total number to 569 as of April 7, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Tuesday.
By the numbers, there were 34 new cases added to the tally as well as 10 new deaths and 35 individuals that recovered from the disease.
The DFA noted that the number of recoveries significantly increased by 19 percent, the highest in the past two weeks.
“We owe the increasing number of recoveries to all the brave health workers across the globe who continue to risk their lives to ensure the health of our kababayan abroad,” the DFA added.
In Spain, Philippine Consul General to Madrid Adrian Cruz called on the 44,000-strong Filipino community in that country to remain calm and stay positive amid the onslaught of COVID-19.
To date, there are 136,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Spain with more than 13,000 deaths.
