DENR compound in QC placed under lockdown

By Ellalyn De Vera-Ruiz  The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) compound in Visayas Avenue, Quezon City has been placed under lockdown on Thursday, after two employees tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). According to DENR Undersecretary Benny Antiporda, the two individuals are employees of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), an agency under the DENR. The EMB Central Office building, along with other DENR bureaus and offices, is located in the DENR Office compound in Visayas Avenue. "There's an immediate order coming from the secretary (Roy Cimatu) that we put the whole DENR compound on lockdown for immediate sanitation of the place," Antiporda said. "As of now, we're still coordinating with the executive director of the EMB. The two staff are working in his office," he added. Operations in the main office will be suspended to give way for the disinfection of the area, while the two personnel will be placed under quarantine. Antiporda said sanitation of the compound will not take long. "What's important is that the place should be immediately vacated, so the area can be sanitized, and we can immediately resume work,” he added.
