By Antonio Colina IV DAVAO CITY — Mayor Sara Duterte said the city government plans to implement a modified community quarantine once the 22-day enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) ends on April 26. During her live interview over Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) 87.5 on Thursday, April 24, Duterte said instead of extending the ECQ, the local health authorities have agreed on the modified community quarantine. Under the quarantine setup, she said the suspension imposed on jeepneys and other public transport would be lifted while some offices would be allowed to open up with a skeleton staff and shortened work hours as well as workweek. “The difference with our mass transport is that, we can expect fewer vehicles on the streets compared to the normal number of vehicles that we see on the streets,” she said. She said the city government is currently completing the draft plan for the post-ECQ. “The offices can go back to work subject to limitations on the physical distancing and they should operate on a skeletal workforce, shortened work hours, and shortened work week,” she said. She added that stricter guidelines would be imposed during the modified community quarantine to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the community. Department of Health-Davao reported a total of 114 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region. Of this number, 98 came from Davao City, nine from Davao del Norte, two from Davao del Sur, two from Davao de Oro, and three from Davao Oriental. Davao Occidental has reported zero cases. Even during modified community quarantine, Duterte said mass gatherings, including religious ceremonies, meetings, prayers and gathering, are still prohibited, while the public is advised to wear face masks in public places, while the food and medicine pass and district clustering will remain.
