Dagupan medical frontliner recovers from COVID-19

By Liezle Basa Inigo DAGUPAN CITY — The City Information Office reported on May 7, Thursday, that a medical frontliner from Dagupan has been discharged from the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC). The 29-year-old nurse from Barangay Mayombo is this city’s fifth medical frontliner and the sixth confirmed COVID-19 case to have recovered from the disease. “We are thankful that we have another recovery. But again, this should not be the reason for us to be complacent,” said Mayor Brian Lim. Earlier, the city recorded 11 confirmed COVID-19 cases, eight of them medical workers. Last month, four medical frontliners and a 23-year-old woman had recovered from COVID-19. Dr. Ophelia Rivera, this city’s COVID-19 focal person, said the nurse contracted the virus after she was exposed to a case at the R1MC, in relation to her work. Dr. Rivera said the medical worker went into self-quarantine on March 28 and had a swab test on April 12. She was admitted at the R1MC on April 15, when her laboratory test results indicated that she was positive for the virus. Meanwhile, three more medical workers and a 37-year-old woman from Barangay Bonuan Boquig have been confined at the R1MC since April 24. Mayor Brian Lim appealed to city residents to continue to follow the city’s quarantine rules.
