By Noreen Jazul The Department of Agriculture has stepped up the processing of applications for “food lane” accreditation which allows the faster transportation and distribution of “perishable agri-fishery commodities” to Metro Manila amid the enforcement of the enhanced community quarantine. (Department of Agriculture / MANILA BULLETIN) “This level-up move aims to maintain the unhampered and unimpeded delivery of food and other agricultural commodities in the middle of the enforcement of the enhanced community quarantine in the whole of Luzon,” the DA said in a press release Wednesday. The food lane pass given by the DA grants delivery trucks a “24-hour ban-free access through the North Luzon to South Luzon Expressways.” The DA also reported that a number of food manufacturers, traders, and importers have already applied for the food lane accreditation at its central office in Quezon City. Nemia Faraon, who transports table eggs and milk, was among the first who applied for the pass. Meanwhile, the DA said its Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (AMAS) “remains in full force amidst the month-long quarantine to manage the accreditation process and ensure the regular monitoring of supplies of stocks at various points of the supply chain.”
