Curfew violators decrease in Muntinlupa

The Muntinlupa City government apprehended more violators on the second day of the unified curfew but the total was lower than on the first day of its implementation.

According to the Muntinlupa Police, from 10 p.m. on March 16 to 5 a.m. on March 17, 130 people consisting of 47 minors and 83 adults were caught violating the curfew, a decrease of 36 percent from the 203 nabbed on March 15 to 16. 

Police data showed 39 people were apprehended in Bgy. Poblacion, 27 in Putatan, 21 in Tunasan, 16 in Alabang, 10 in Bayanan, five in Sucat, five in Ayala Alabang, four in Cupang, and three in Buli. 

Southern Police District (SPD) Director Eliseo Cruz visited Muntinlupa, Taguig, Pateros, and Las Pinas to lead the implementation of the curfew. 

Besides manning checkpoints, the police also conducted foot patrol in their respective areas and mobile patrol operations. 

He reminded the deployed police to strictly implement the curfew and observe minimum health protocols.Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi signed two ordinances passed by the City Council imposing the new curfew hours from March 15 to April 4 and liquor ban . 

City Ordinance 2021-215 amended an existing local curfew law and adopted the Metro Manila Council (MMC) resolution for the unified curfew hours in the National Capital Region. 

Under the ordinance, the following are exempted from the new curfew in Muntinlupa:

• Medical practitioners, nurses, ambulance drivers and other workers of medical facilities while on their way to and from work

• Attendants of other persons dealing with an emergency medical situation

• Persons who are obtaining emergency medical assistance for themselves or for other persons

• Drivers of delivery trucks while on their way to deliver essential goods/products

• Owners, vendors, and other persons involved in the transport and delivery of essential goods

• Private employees such as call center agents while on their way to and from work

• Construction workers while on their way to and from work

• Media practitioners while performing their job

• Persons who are travelling to or from the airport prior to or after a flight

• Drivers of private transportation used as shuttle services while on their way to and from work

• Members of Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), including the Armed Forces Of the Philippines, the Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, and other emergency responders

• Security guards

• Employees of open fast foods (take-out only)

• Local fishermen

• Kabalikat sa Kalinisan workers

• Public transportation drivers
