PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said the number of those classified as Persons Under Investigation (PUIs) and Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) is also rising.
Quoting the data from the PNP Health Service, Banac said the four more confirmed cases were two males aged and two females aged 47 and 46.
“They are all assigned in Metro Manila. They are all frontliners as they were assigned at checkpoints and in the conduct of regular community patrol,” said Banac.
The three previous cases were one from Manila, one from Pasay, and another from Laguna.
Banac said a total of 145 PNP personnel are considered PUIs, 25 of them are officers. On the other hand, he said a total of 1,416 PNP personnel, 268 of them are officers, are listed as PUIs.
With the continuing increase in the number of PUMs and PUIs, Banac said the PNP leadership already directed the Kiangan Billeting Center (KBC) located inside Camp Crame to be open for all police personnel who are recommended to undergo self-quarantine.
“The KBC now offers 43 rooms with free board and lodging, free food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and also other free services such as Wi-fi connection,” said Banac. "This initiative is still part of the organization's Biosafety Plan, helping our PUIs and PUMs personnel to have a place where they can stay without worrying about the rent fee and their meals while in quarantine."
Policemen were among those tapped to implement the home quarantine rules via their deployment to quarantine control points and conduct of community patrol.
The PNP leadership earlier assured that they will take care of all the hospitalization and other expenses for policemen who would be infected by COVID-19.
