TACLOBAN City - The Department of Health (DOH-8) has reported nine new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases from Leyte province on Thursday, June 18, bringing the total number of cases in Eastern Visayas to 342.
The Eastern Visayas Regional COVID Testing Center (EVRCTC) released on Wednesday four pending results of La Paz, Leyte which turned out positive for COVID-19. They will be tagged as Patients EV-334 to EV-337.
The Divine Word Hospital also released a total of 128 laboratory results with 123 negative and five positives for COVID-19. They will be tagged as Patients EV 338 to EV 342.
This means that Eastern Visayas has recorded 78 COVID-19 cases, the most number of positive cases in a single day since the start of the pandemic.
Patient EV 338 is an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Palo; Patient EV 339 from Tabango; Patient EV 340, a locally stranded individual (LSI) from Capoocan; and Patients EV 341 and EV 342, both LSIs from San Miguel.
The earlier reported 20 cases in Basey, Samar are three health workers and 17 LSIs.
Burauen, Leyte also reported two LSIs and 2 OFWs infected with the virus, while Baybay City's new case is also a health worker.
