COVID-19 cases in E. Visayas now at 333

By Marie Tonette Marticio TACLOBAN City - Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Eastern Visayas has already reached the 300-mark in less than two weeks. This was confirmed by the Department of Health (DOH-8) with 69 new cases logged on Wednesday, June 17, bringing the total of confirmed cases to 333. The new cases came from the 410 swab results released by the Eastern Visayas Regional COVID Testing Center (EVRCTC). Of these, 341 turned out negative and 69 were positive. The 69 new cases came from the following municipalities: In Leyte, there were six recorded from San Miguel; four from Burauen; three from Alang-alang; two from Matag-ob; and one each from Baybay City, Hindang, and Matalom towns. Basey has recorded 20 new cases, three from Calbayog City, and one each from Gandara and Sta. Rita--all in Samar province. Southern Leyte reported 12 from Libagon, eight from Tomas Oppus, three from Bontoc, and one each from Padre Burgos, Hinunangan, and Maasin City. The DOH-8 said it is conducting a case investigation in coordination with the concerned local government units (LGUs).
