COVID-19 cases breach 600-mark in Davao region

DAVAO CITY - The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Davao region has now reached 607 after 20 more cases were recorded over the weekend.

The Department of Health Davao Center for Health Development (DOH-DCHD) said, out of the 835 persons tested over the weekend, eight new cases were recorded on Saturday, July 4, and 12 new cases as of 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 5. The region currently has 181 COVID-10 active cases, the DOH said.

Out of the 20 new cases, 14 were from Davao City, and two each from Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, and Davao del Norte.

Meanwhile, 15 more recoveries were reported over the weekend bringing the total number of successful recoveries to 393.

Among those who have recovered were four children from Davao City, including a 10-year-old boy from Barangay 23-C, an 11-year-old girl from Barangay Leon Garcia Sr., a 13-year-old boy from Agdao Proper, and a 14-year-old boy from Barangay 5-A.

The DOH also recorded no additional fatalities and the number of COVID-19 deaths in the region is currently at 33.
