Contact tracing underway after Mayor Belmonte tests positive for coronavirus

The epidemiology and surveillance unit of the Quezon City government started tracing individuals who came in close contact with Mayor Joy Belmonte and two others who tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19)

Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (QCESU) head Dr. Rolly Cruz said they are tracking down all individuals who interacted with the mayor and two other patients and have scheduled employees working on the third and 14^th floor of city hall to undergo swab tests.

"Other people who had direct contact with the Mayor and the two other employees, including visitors, will also undergo swab testing," Cruz added.

City hall employees who will be tested will be required to undergo home quarantine until test results are released within three days.

The local government said sections of city hall will be disinfected as safety precaution, but operations will remain normal as not all employees came in direct contact with Belmonte in the past few days.
Meanwhile, Belmonte, who is asymptomatic, will work from home.
