According to Dr. Shelbay Blanco of the Department of Health in Region 7 (DOH-7), the OFWs will no longer undergo the 14-day quarantine here because they have presented their negative PCR test results.
They were endorsed to their respective local government units through the Barangay Health Response Team (BHERTs), which will, in turn, continue to monitor their condition while they are at home, Blanco said.
Office of Civil Defense (OCD-7) Regional Director and Co-Chair of the Inter-Agency Task Group for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATG-MEID)-Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in Region 7 (RDRRMC-7) Marlou Salazar said that the IATG was ready to receive repatriated OFWs here, and will continue to provide support and assistance to stranded OFWs who wish to come home to Central Visayas.
“More OFWs are expected to arrive in Central Visayas. We hope that the plan’s processes will be observed to provide the right actions in a given situation,” Salazar added.
According to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration in Region 7 (OWWA-7), it has already communicated with the local government units (LGUs) to facilitate the transportation of their respective repatriated OFWs.
The OFWs were billeted in a hotel in Cebu City while they waited for the LGUs to pick them up and escort them to their homes.
Upon arrival in Cebu, the OFWs presented their certificates signifying that they have completed the 14-day quarantine in Manila, along with their negative test result of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), fit to travel certification from the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ), and the letter of acceptance from the destination LGU.
