IMUS CITY, Cavite – The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in this province increased by seven more, bringing the total to 317.
Provincial authorities reported that the seven new positive cases involved five women from Bacoor City, aged 23, 24, 30, 46 and 75 years old; a 38-year-old man from Cavite City, and a 65-year-old woman from the municipality of Rosario, which is also called Salinas.
It was the biggest number of increase reported in a single day while the province was under the two-week general community quarantine (GCQ), it was observed.
A single day seven case-increase was also recorded in late March when the province was still under the strict enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
The Cavite province was downgraded from the two-week extended ECQ to GCQ set from May 16 to 31.
Sixth district (General Trias) Board Member Kerby Javier Salazar, chairman of the Committee on Health, Nutrition and Population, has been reporting the COVID-19 case developments under the tag Cavite Case Tracker that he posts from time to time in his Facebook page.
The case tracker data were derived from update reports from the Cavite Provincial Health Office's Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit.
The case tracker revealed that as of 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, Cavite province has 317 confirmed positive cases, with 27 deaths and 107 recoveries, and recorded 155 probable, 5,898 suspect and 2,610 negative cases.
The previous tracker (3 p.m. Monday, May 25), showed 310 confirmed positive cases, with 27 deaths and 107 recoveries, and 155 probable; 5,893 suspect; and 2,571 negative cases.
There was no report of case mortality and recovery in the 24-hour period.
The latest tracker (May 26) reported that the city or district of Bacoor has the highest COVID-19 incidence among the province’s cities and municipalities and that Magallanes, a municipality in eighth district, remained COVID-19-free.
The breakdown of the 317 COVID-19 positive cases per city and municipality was as follows: Cavite City: 7, Kawit: 8, Noveleta: 4, Rosario (also called Salinas): 10, Bacoor City: 99, Imus City: 45, Dasmariñas City: 51, General Mariano Alvarez (GMA): 5, Carmona: 7, Silang: 10, General Trias City: 23, Tanza: 12, Trece Martires City: 6, Indang: 2, Amadeo: 3, Mendez-Nuñez: 2, Alfonso: 3, Ternate: 3, Maragondon: 6, General Emilio Aguinaldo-Bailen: 1, Naic: 8 and Tagaytay City: 2.
