ILOILO CITY – Capiz province has recorded its first death due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed this in a bulletin released Tuesday evening.
The 60-year-old woman died last March 28. She had recent travel to Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and Metro Manila.
In a separate bulletin, the Capiz Provincial Health Office said the woman was among the three positive COVID-19 cases reported in the province.
With a casualty and two other positive cases, Governor Esteban Evan Contreras urged local residents to strictly follow the measures for enhanced community quarantine to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The Capiz Provincial Health Office also noted in its latest bulletin that six others classified as patients under investigation (PUIs) or those showing symptoms of COVID-19 have tested negative.
Meanwhile, Capiz’s first casualty was among the two new COVID-19 casualties in Western Visayas region. The other was a 58-year-old male from Iloilo province.
In all, Western Visayas region now has four COVID-19 deaths. The first casualty was a 72-year-old man from Iloilo City while the second casualty was a 70-year-old man from Lambunao town, Iloilo province.
