Calabarzon's poor families start receiving emergency subsidies

By Charissa Luci-Atienza The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has started distributing emergency subsidies to more than 2.2 million low-income families in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) Region. (MANILA BULLETIN) Department of Social Welfare and Development (MANILA BULLETIN) The DSWD Field Office IV-A reported that out of 80, 477 families who are target beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) in Bacoor City, more than 1,000 qualified beneficiaries from Bacoor City received P 6,500 subsidy on Wednesday, April 8. The subsidy allocation in Bacoor City amounted to P523.1 million. "The distribution will be completed until April 11 in this locality," the DSWD said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page. Assistant Regional Director Mylah Gatchalian of DSWD Field Office IV-A led the distribution of the P6,500 cash subsidy to the Bacoor City beneficiaries. "Nandito po kami, ang DSWD, lokal na pamahalaan ng Bacoor at ang mga partners natin mula sa AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) at PNP (Philippine National Police) para ihatid sa inyong mga naapektuhan ng enhanced community quarantine ang tulong ng gobyerno – ang social amelioration program. The DSWD said its Field Office IV-A is also flexing its muscles to ensure the immediate distribution of the emergency subsidy to the remaining qualified beneficiaries in Cavite, and low-income families in Laguna, Batangas,Rizal and Quezon "The Field Office is coordinating with 53 other local government units in the five provinces of the region for the schedule of distribution of the emergency subsidy to qualified beneficiaries," it said. "There are also 88 other local government units with documents that are still being processed," it added. The DSWD noted that more than 2.2 million families are set to benefit from the SAP in Region IV-A (Calabarzon).
