Most of the members of the Cabinet have volunteered to take 75 percent off their monthly salary as their personal contributions to the government efforts to contain and mitigate the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
In a virtual press briefing on Saturday, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, IATF spokesperson, said some top officials in the executive branch volunteered to take the pay cut until December this year or until the Bayanihan To Heal As One Act is in force.

"Karamihan na mga miyembro ng gabinete ni Pangulong Duterte ay boluntaryong ibibigay ang 75 percent ng kanilang buwanang sahod upang ilaan sa mga programa ng gobyerno para sugpuin ang COVID-19 (Most of the Cabinet members have signified that they are willing r to give 75 percent of their monthly salary to be contributed to funding the programs aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19)," he said.
Nograles said he was one of the Cabinet men who volunteered to donate 75 percent of their salary to the government's COVID-19 containment and mitigation efforts.
He, however, refused to name his colleagues, saying it was better if the concerned officials would disclose this to the public.
In a late-night public address last Friday, Duterte assured that the funds authorized under the Bayanihan To Heal as One Act will not go to the pockets of politicians
He said, however, that the funds allocated may however, not last beyond six months and hoped for a vaccine to be developed soon.
"Sabi ko may pera tayo. Hindi ba? O ngayon dumating, kailangan natin ng bilyon. Pero hindi ito tatagal. Dadating ito ng six months, patay na tayo (I said we have the money, right? Now it's here, and we really need billions. But this will not last. It may last for six months but beyond that, we're doomed)," he said.
