Bulacan's 1st COVID-19 case, also its 1st recovered patient

By Freddie Velez CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – The first confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) turned out to also be the first to conquer the ravages of the deadly ailment after she was discharged from the hospital Monday, April 6. Patient 21, a 58-year-old female from Barangay Graceville, City of San Jose Del Monte, was finally sent home, Monday, after a month at the Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Novaliches. This developed as the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) donated some ready-to-eat foods, protective suits, and medical supplies at the Incident Command Post in this city on Tuesday. Fr. Francis Cortez handed over the donations to Bulacan Provincial Public Health Officer and Incident Commander Dr. Jocelyn Gomez, who would, in distributed the items to the frontliners of Bulacan. "Hindi matatawaran at hindi matutumbasan ng anumang bagay at halaga ng salapi ang serbisyong ipinapakita ng mga frontliners. Alam naman natin na mayroon ng mga frontliners sa iba't-ibang lugar na nahawahan na ng coronavirus, mayroong gumaling at mayroon hindi kinayanan at binawian ng buhay," Gomez said. She said, in the fight against COVID-19, all front-liners, to include the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police, delivering relief goods and manning checkpoints at the boundaries areas, as well as the health workers faithfully serving to attend COVID-19 patients are considered the country’s newest heroes.
