CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – In an effort to add more teeth to President Duterte’s earlier declaration of a state of calamity in the country for six months, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) here has heeded the advice of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to adopt its own resolution on a state of calamity in Bulacan.
According to Vice Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, the resolution will give incentives to frontliners identified by directors of provincial and district hospitals.
The resolution also called on the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to strictly implement anti-hoarding and overpricing laws to protect Bulakenyo consumers.
Governor Daniel R. Fernando expressed his gratitude to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for their support, because the declaration would render full assistance, and mobilize the necessary resources to undertake emergency and disaster response to any coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related crisis in the province.
Of the six confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province, two were from the City of San Jose del Monte, and one each the City of Malolos, Guiguinto, and Baliwag. The patient under investigation (PUI) from San Ildefonso recently died in a hospital in Manila.
One of those confirmed infected with the deadly coronavirus was Baliwag town Mayor Ferdie Estrella, who is reportedly in stable condition at a Manila hospital.
The Bulacan governor also assured that all provincial employees, including job orders, will receive their salaries despite the enhanced community quarantine being implemented to contain coronavirus disease 2019.
