The Bulacan Police Provincial Office (PPO) formed on Monday, March 27, the Special Investigation Task Group SERNA (SITG SERNA) to investigate the armed confrontation that resulted in the death of Lt. Col. Marlon G. Serna on Saturday, March 25.
Serna was shot dead while in a hot pursuit operation following a robbery incident in Barangay San Juan, San Miguel town.
Initial investigation showed that upon reaching Barangay Buhol na Mangga in the nearby town of San Ildefonso, two motorcycle-riding individuals suddenly fired shots at the responding team, hitting Lt. Col. Serna in the head.Â
The suspects fled towards Barangay Akle, San Ildefonso.
The Bulacan PPO condemned the incident and assured the public that they will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the incident and to identify the perpetrators.
SITG SERNA will be working hard to gather evidence and interview witnesses to solve the crime, police said.
