Bulacan Infection Control Center now open to accommodate COVID-19 patients

By Freddie Velez CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – The Bulacan Infection Control Center (BICC), a designated quarantine facility in the province that is housed at a new building extension of the Bulacan Medical Center (BMC), was inaugurated Friday, May 2, and will now be ready to accommodate probable and suspected cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Ensuring the safety, care, and well-being of the Bulakenyo patients, Governor Daniel R. Fernando assured the public that BICC was equipped to handle and contain COVID-19-related cases. The facility offers free health care and meals for COVID-19-related patients, and has air-conditioned rooms. Dr. Protacio Bajao, the overall person in-charge of BICC, said that there will be 30 doctors and 54 nurses assigned in the center who will work on a skeletal schedule. Fernando said the third floor of the facility can accommodate 100 patients with moderate symptoms, suspect and probable cases of COVID-19. In the second floor, there will be 50 beds for patients in severe and critical condition, 10 beds for intensive care, and four dialysis machines. On the first floor are the emergency room, triage, x-ray and other laboratories.
