By Freddie Velez MALOLOS, Bulacan – Another facility was designated by the provincial government here that could accommodate patients confirmed or suspected to have the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Aside from the new building at the Bulacan Medical Center, which was designated as the provincial COVID-19 hospital that could accommodate 50 patients per floor, the MAB Building in Barangay San Pablo here, which has a 54-bed capacity, would become an added COVID-19 facility in the province after a turnover from religious group Ang Dating Daan and its broadcast arm UNTV. In addition, the College of Science and Psychology building of the Bulacan State University-Main Campus would be able to accommodate up to 100 patients upon its approval from the Department of Health (DOH). Meanwhile, the PGB Governance Center has admitted six COVID-19-related patients, four of whom were already discharged after completing the 14-day quarantine period. Aside from quarantine facilities, isolation units in BMC, Baliwag District Hospital, Calumpit District Hospital, Emilio G. Perez District Hospital, Gregorio del Pilar District Hospital, Rogaciano M. Mercado Memorial Hospital, San Miguel District Hospital, and the newly-built BMC Emergency Quarantine Facility were already operating under the provincial government of Bulacan. Apart from the BMC Emergency Quarantine Facility which can only admit suspect patients with mild and moderate symptoms, all isolation units in BMC and the Provincial COVID-19 Center can accommodate COVID-19 positive, probable and suspect patients with moderate, severe and critical symptoms. Fernando assured the Bulakenyos that the PGB will be working double-time to fast-track the improvement of the COVID-19 facilities in the province. “Hindi lamang po ang ating pasilidad ang ating inihahanda. Maging ang ating mga health workers na magmumula pa sa iba’t ibang public hospitals sa lalawigan na silang gaganap sa ma-bayaning pag-aalaga sa ating mga pasyente ay sasailalim sa mga angkop na pagsasanay upang lubos na matugunan ang pagsubok na kinakaharap natin sa panahong ito,” Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando said. As of 4 p.m. April 18, the Bulacan Provincial Health Office has reported 100 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 90 probable cases and 325 suspected cases with four recoveries and 22 deaths.
