The mass swabbing facilities at the Philippine Arena will start its operations on Wednesday, and it will initially cater to returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
Fernando said that the PH Arena swabbing facility consists of six tents, each with 16 testing booths. This will serve as the counterpart of the Bulacan Infection Control Center (BICC) at the Bulacan Medical Center.
According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), medical personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP) will oversee the operations at the PH Arena, together with the personnel from the provincial government of Bulacan.
Fernando was among the very first local chief executives to appeal to the Department of Health (DOH) to expedite the availability of swabbing facilities in the various impacted regions and emphasized that improving testing capacity will greatly help our fight against COVID-19.
“Kailangan natin ng mas mabilis na aksyon. Every second counts in this fight. Mass testing would give local governments a clearer picture of the extent of the infections in their jurisdiction and enable them to respond accordingly.” he emphasized.
