Bulacan barangay placed under total lockdown

By Freddie Velez BALAGTAS, Bulacan--Starting noontime Thursday (June 25), Barangay Panginay here will be placed under total quarantine lockdown until the early morning of July 3, after barangay officials were alarmed about two positive cases of COVID-19 in the area. Alert Village captain Rolando G. Santiago on Wednesday made an announcement suggesting his constituents to go to the market only until noon Thursday because no one will be allowed to leave their house after noon. He added that all residents must stay home, those who are not residents of the barangay are not allowed to enter, and no visitors are allowed until the early morning of July 3. Darwin David, provincial director of the Department of the Interior and Local government in Bulacan, told local media that local government units (LGUs) can declare quarantine lockdowns based on the situations in their localities. He also confirmed that several LGUs have already made inquiries about declaring quarantine lockdowns in their areas. Meanwhile, Bulacan Provincial Health Office head Dr. Joy Gomez reported that nine new cases of COVID-19 were recorded Wednesday, bringing to 332 the total number of cases in the province. She also reported 13 new recoveries, bringing those to 176, while deaths remain at 34.
